Executive Director
Reports to: Chair of the Board of Directors
Contract Period: Six-Month Probationary Period, followed by Annual Contract
Status: Exempt, 30 hours/week
General Summary:
The Executive Director of Aldersgate Homes, Inc. provides mission-aligned leadership, with a strong focus on communication, education, fundraising, and strategic organizational support. This position works closely with the Board of Directors to deliver services and advocacy for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communication & Public Relations
Write and edit the Gateway Newsletter and other key publications.
Create and distribute promotional materials (print and digital).
Seek and coordinate speaking opportunities to promote the mission.
Develop and manage social media, website updates, and public messaging.
Prepare and manage display tables at conferences and community events.
2. Education & Advocacy
Develop and support educational programming in alignment with organizational goals.
Foster relationships with churches, partner organizations, and the public.
Represent Aldersgate Homes at the North Georgia Annual Conference and related events.
3. Fundraising & Development
Plan and implement the Annual Special Offering campaign with North Georgia Conference United Methodist churches.
Initiate and support new fundraising activities in coordination with the Board of Directors.
Cultivate relationships with donors, churches, and supporting organizations.
Maintain donor records and acknowledgments in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
4. Administrative & Financial Oversight
Maintain organizational documents, correspondence, and meeting records.
Use QuickBooks to manage financial transactions: deposits, payments, invoicing, and provide a report to the Treasurer of the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis.
Ensure accurate reporting and recordkeeping for all financial matters.
Assist the Board with budget development and tracking.
Maintains consistent and regular communication with the Board of Directors, including preparing and participating in board meetings.
5. Leadership & Coordination
Provide general administration of the non-profit organization, including filing proper governmental forms and tax documents in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Supervise part-time staff, including the Collinswood Coordinator.
Provide high-level oversight of all program areas, delegating day-to-day operations as appropriate.
Work independently while maintaining consistent communication with the Chair of the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
Existing relationship with and in the disability community, and a passion for working for disability rights and inclusion in the church and the world.
Previous work in church and faith-based settings preferred.
A deep understanding of the United Methodist Church’s organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with nonprofit development, public relations, or community engagement.
Ability to create and design graphics as needed for social media, email, and flyers, using tools like Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar design software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and QuickBooks preferred, or willingness to learn.
Proficiency in MailChimp or other similar email platforms preferred, or willingness to learn.
Ability to manage multiple projects, independently, with attention to detail.
Own personal transportation or access to self-arranged transportation.
